This song was written in response to the experiences of human rights defenders at risk in Colombia, Mexico, Egypt, Kenya and Indonesia, through the research project 'Navigating Risk, Managing Security, and Receiving Support' led by Dr Alice Nah at the centre for Applied Human Rights, University of York.

Kenyan born multiinstrumentalist singer songwriter, Rapasa blesses us with his unique sound inspired from traditional East African music and distinctive otherworldly voice. His principal instrument, the Nyatiti, is an eight string lyre from Western Kenya. He has in depth understanding of traditional Nyatiti music and is able to place it in the context of today’s music landscape.
